randomly i came across this quote:
“to awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world” – freya stark (kind of how i felt on this morning, in singapore)
shame on me! i had never heard about freya stark. when i started researching her i thought “how could i have never heard about this bad-ass mother-of-vagabonding?” she was an explorer and writer, who traveled (amongst others) to beirut, iraq, iran, turkey, and way to the hinterland of arabia, as one of the first westerners. pre hostel world (www.hostelworld.com)… free wifi… backpacker friendly areas (to give you an idea of what that is… here are my photos of khao san road in bangkok)… and trip advisor (www.tripadvisor.com).
and as if that isn’t enough of a reason to be added to my little-black-book of vagabond-muses (in which uschi obermaier got the first entry)… her second name is madeline (only one letter away from myyyyy name “madelaine”)… she is also has german in her…. she seems to enjoy a good-old-hammock-time, as much as I do… aaaand she lived to be 100 years old!

but because laying in in hammock all day was not all i did….here you can see some of my thailand-photograpy.
